Operating a child care business in a community where care is scarce can create meaningful opportunities—but high demand alone doesn’t guarantee a sustainable business. Whether you’re already providing care in an underserved community or considering opening a program, this statewide session will explore what it takes to build a child care business that can thrive in a child care desert.
We’ll look at the unique opportunities and challenges of operating where care is limited and focus on three areas that can strengthen long-term sustainability: maximizing what you earn, building stronger financial systems, and developing relationships that help keep your program connected and your seats filled. Providers will leave with practical strategies they can begin using right away, along with resources and opportunities for additional support through the Texas Family Child Care Network.
The session will conclude with an open Q&A, giving providers an opportunity to ask questions and consider how these strategies apply to their own businesses and communities
